Questions

Short answers about the courses, the cohort and enrolment.
01What is Academy K?
Learn the frontier tech that climbs the Kardashev scale. Three four-week, self-paced tracks: quantum computing, AI / SI and thermodynamic computing. It is the sibling of Observatory-K. K stands for Kardashev. Observatory-K tracks the climb. Academy K teaches the tech. More on the about page.
02Is it live?
The site is open and you can join the waitlist. The first cohort starts in December. An exact calendar date is not set yet.
03What does self-paced with optional live sessions mean?
You work through the course whenever suits you, over 4 weeks. The 8 live sessions (a kickoff and seven more) are optional.
04Who are the tutors?
A human expert in the field runs the live sessions. We have not announced names yet.
05How many people are in a cohort?
Each course is limited to 25 people.
06When does it start?
The first cohort starts in December and runs into the first week of January, with a break over the holidays and the end of the year.
07What does it cost?
$24.99 per course for the first cohort (founding price). $49.99 per course for later cohorts. Prices are in USD. Two tracks together are 10% off ($44.98 in the first cohort, $89.98 later) and all three are 15% off ($63.72 and $127.47). Nothing is paid on this site.
08Where do the proceeds go?
50% of proceeds go to Kardashev Research and related initiatives.
09How does enrolment work?
Join the waitlist. That is free. In November we email a payment link so you can confirm your seat. The steps are on the enrolment page.
10Is joining the waitlist a commitment?
No. Joining is free and carries no commitment. You decide when the payment link arrives.
11Do I need prior experience?
Each track lists its own prerequisites. Quantum Computing does not require prior quantum mechanics. Thermodynamic Computing teaches statistical mechanics from the start. Read the track page before you reserve a place.
12Is there a certificate?
No certificate is promised.
13Who runs it?
The contact is daniel@uncertain.systems. Academy K runs on the Uncertain Systems platform. The source is on GitHub.
